New Year New Fizz Inspiration

Looking for inspiration on how to enjoy your fizz this new years eve?

It’s almost time to wave goodbye to 2020, hurrah! Will you be cracking open the fizz to do so? Whilst for many you cannot beat the taste of those chilled bubbles hitting your taste buds others may prefer something a little extra in their flute.

Here’s Mambo’s top 3 fizz cocktails of 2020.

Rossini – You can’t go wrong with strawberries and prosecco. To us they’re a better combination than the peach in a Bellini. Simply muddle 4 strawberries in the base of your cocktail shaker and add 22.5ml of strawberry liqueur. Add ice and shake until the shaker is too cold to hold. Strain into a chilled glass and top up with prosecco. Stir gently to combine or you’ll get a shot of vaguely alcoholic strawberries at the end and that’s not as enjoyable as the drink as a whole!

Mambo Tip – add a hint of balsamic vinegar to really elevate this drink.

Sticky Toffee Pudding – A huge hit on our Sh(b)ake off pudding night leading to many purchases of toffee liqueur! Take a paper towel and dampen the rim of your flute (or coupe) with the liqueur before adding sugar to it, then set aside with ice to chill.  Add 25ml white rum, 15ml toffee liqueur and 15ml of butterscotch liqueur to a shaker, fill with ice and shake to combine. Strain into chilled glass and top with prosecco.

Mambo Tip -pour your sugar onto a plate or bowl to make less mess when sugaring your glass.

French 75 – This classic drink dates back to World War I and combines gin and champagne (or prosecco) with lemon for a fresh citrus hit. You will need to add 15ml lemon juice (freshly squeezed is best), 5ml sugar syrup, 50 ml gin and lots of ice to a shaker. Shake well and strain into a chilled flute. Top with your chosen fizz and stir gently to combine, add a lemon zest garnish if required,

Mambo Tip – no sugar syrup? Switch for a teaspoon of sugar and stir into lemon juice until it dissolves.
