Norton Fields Bar – Frequently asked questions

HOW IT WORKS (last updated 24/11/22)…

Norton Fields is a beautiful venue and one of our favourite places to run a wedding bar – but how exactly does Mambo work at Norton?

As we are the preferred bar supplier at Norton Fields we have worked with Tori and the team to provide a range of packages suitable for a variety of budgets – and if none of them are quite right we can create a bespoke package just for you!

As with all weddings your day is effectively one of two halves – the first half containing the ceremony/arrival drinks and wedding breakfast; followed by your evening reception. Our packages cover the first half of your day, and our cash bar will see your guests thirsts quenched well into the night.

Do you offer corkage?

Yes we do offer corkage at Norton Fields, this covers the period up until the evening cash bar opens. It is priced per head (children under 12 are free) and allows you to supply the drinks for your daytime drinks – that is arrival and wedding breakfast. Your drinks can be delivered the day before your wedding and placed in the fridges to chill, on the day our experienced staff will serve your drinks as required. The corkage charge includes the staff to serve the drinks, the glassware required and water jugs/wine coolers for the tables. Extra props are available at a surcharge. Any drinks left once the corkage period ends will be stored securely for you to collect after the event.

How much drink should we supply for corkage?

Our most popular packages include 2 drinks per person for welcome drinks (which usually lasts around 90 minutes and is often the time photos are taken), half a bottle of wine for your meal and a glass of something fizzy for a toast. It’s advisable to supply water for the tables too and soft drinks for the none drinkers.

Can the cash bar open early?

It is often possible to open the bar early but there is a surcharge to pay as the layout of the venue means extra staff are usually required to do this. Please discuss with Mambo.

Can arrival drinks be served outside?

Weather permitting of course!

Can we serve drinks before the ceremony?

Some celebrants/registrars will not perform your ceremony if there is glassware in the ceremony room so it’s often easier to wait until after the ‘I do’s’ to serve your guests drinks. We have kilner jar dispensers available to hire which could be filled with iced water to greet your guests as they arrive but all drinks should be handed back before seats are taken.

Can we have spirits on the tables during our wedding breakfast?

As part of our policy to promote responsible drinking we cannot allow spirits on the tables. Should you wish to offer spirits and mixers we advise opening the bar early and allowing guests to purchase their own (surcharge applies to open the bar early, please discuss with Mambo)

Can the favours be alcoholic?

Please discuss this with Mambo

Can you supply hot drinks?

Absolutely, there is the option to add a hot drinks buffet to all of our daytime packages and they can be available to purchase from behind the bar in the evening.

Can we have kegs for the reception?

Yes of course, there is an additional cost involved to hire the equipment required and a minimum order of 2 kegs -speak to Mambo for more details.

What time does the bar open and close at Norton Fields?

Typically the evening bar will open at around 6.30pm. Last orders are 11.15pm and the bar closes at 11.30pm (last orders and closing times are decided by Norton Fields).

Does the bar accept cash payments?

No, we are now card only payments at the bar.

Can we have bar tabs?

Yes, we recommend setting them up for your suppliers so they are kept refreshed during the day. You can set spend limits or drink requirements as you see fit.

Can we have an open bar?

Absolutely, there are a couple of options here. You can make the bar free all evening, or put a spend limit on it. You can choose which drinks are covered as part of your free bar (ie only single spirits/mixers). Please note the tab must be settled on the evening unless payments have been made in advance

Can we request specific drinks behind the bar?

It is possible to request and we will try to accommodate them wherever possible, this may mean a surcharge or an agreement that you purchase any leftover stock from us after the event.

Do we have to pay a deposit?

Yes, this is refundable to you after the event as long as any terms and conditions laid out in your contract have been met and any outstanding tabs/invoices have been paid.

Can we choose the cocktails?

It’s your wedding, you should absolutely choose the cocktails. You can even head to our HQ to come and see us over the winter and taste them so you know you make the right decision!
