Three Ingredient Tequila Cocktails

Three ingredient tequila cocktails (for those of you who don’t fancy gin or vodka bases.

Paloma

This is one of Mexico’s most popular cocktails and it’s easy to see why. This drink is long, refreshing and easy to recreate at home.

Simply pour 50ml tequila (silver), 7.5ml lime juice (freshly squeezed) and 120ml pink grapefruit soda into a tall glass filled with ice. Stir gently to combine and garnish with a grapefruit wedge on the rim. Some people like to salt the rim before making the drink.

Tommy’s Margarita

This is a popular variant of the classic margarita. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add 60ml tequila, 30ml lime juice (freshly squeezed) and 15ml agave syrup. Shake thoroughly and strain into a chilled rocks glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime. As an optional fourth ingredient margarita bitters can also be added to lift the flavour of the drink (a few drops max before shaking)

Mexican Surfer

This fruity option is easy to make and sometimes has malibu added to it, although here we’re sticking with the three usual ingredients.

Shake 60ml tequila, 45ml pineapple juice and 15ml lime cordial in a shaker with ice, strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a lime wedge on the rim. Shaking hard enough should ensure a nice froth as the cocktail is poured.

When it comes to creating three ingredient tequila cocktails it’s important to use items that are of the best quality you can find as there aren’t so many syrups and additives to mask the flavours.
